Inspiration

One generous pendant sets the mood; table and floor lamps fill the corners so the room never feels flat. Keep everything at 2700–3000K and put the ceiling light on a dimmer.

Hang the pendant 75–85 cm above the tabletop so the light falls on faces and food, not in eyes. Warm 2700K makes evenings linger.

A sculptural fitting over the island gives the room its character; clear, even light over the worktops does the work. 3000K keeps it warm without losing detail.

Light the face from either side of the mirror rather than from above, and choose IP44 or higher near water.

Solar festoons charge by day and come on at dusk — no wiring, and they keep glowing through a power cut.

Rechargeable table lamps put warm light on every table without trailing cables, and move outside when the evening does.
